The Hand-Painted Plantable Buffalo: Grow the Prairie
Give a gift that honors the scale and beauty of the Great Plains. Measuring 4.5 by 6 inches, our Plantable Buffalo is a true centerpiece. It bridges the gap between artisanal gallery art and active, hands-on habitat restoration, making it the perfect zero-waste gift for nature lovers, eco-conscious landowners, or anyone looking to engineer a little wildness back into their yard.
Hand-Painted Watercolor Craftsmanship
Every single buffalo is 100% handmade right here in North Dakota using recycled paper and custom molds. To bring this prairie icon to life, each piece is individually hand-painted using vibrant, non-toxic watercolors. Because of this meticulous, hands-on process, no two painted buffaloes are exactly alike.
The Grassland & Forage Blend
A prairie giant needs a legendary seed mix. This paper is embedded with a robust, biologist-curated blend designed to create high-quality forage and deep-rooted resilience:
• Big Bluestem: The king of the native prairie grasses, known for its incredible root system, drought tolerance, and iconic height.
• The American Livestock Diner Mix: A protein-rich, nitrogen-fixing buffet including Partridge Pea, Purple Coneflower, Yellow Prairie Coneflower, and an array of soil-building clovers (White, Red, Crimson, and Strawberry).
Soil-Building & Zero-Waste
To give these robust seeds the absolute best chance at survival, our handmade paper is infused with nutrient-rich compost tea. When planted under a thin layer of soil, the recycled paper acts as a moisture-retaining mulch. It breaks down naturally, feeding your soil organic matter while the Big Bluestem and wildflowers germinate.
How to Grow:
Simply place the buffalo on bare, disturbed soil, cover lightly with 1/8 to 1/4 inch of dirt, and water thoroughly. Keep the area consistently moist during germination, and watch your landscape transform into a thriving prairie habitat!
The Handmade Difference
Because our plantable art is completely handmade using traditional handset type and custom molds, no two pieces are exactly alike. Please note that slight variations in color, shape, and watercolor detailing will occur from batch to batch, ensuring you receive a truly one-of-a-kind artisanal gift. If you need specific shapes, custom handset type, or tailored color palettes for an event, please reach out to us at rodericksales@gmail.com to discuss your specific needs.
